2013 Dreamland Armchair Quarterback Contest

OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.  A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.

1. HOW TO ENTER

1. The 2013 Dreamland Armchair Quarterback contest will begin on August 19, 2013 at 12:01am and end on November 26, 2013 at 5:00pm.

1. To participate in the contest, you may enter via the following method(s): Log on to cbs42.com and follow the Dreamland Armchair Quarterback link. Register and completely fill out the online entry form and complete the essay section of the form. Essays MUST NOT include any intellectual property for which the entrant does not have permission.  Essays MUST NOT include any nudity or other inappropriate content in the sole discretion of the station.  Essay submissions MUST NOT contain any specific personal contact information about yourself or others. Failure to obey these requirements may lead to disqualification in Station’s sole discretion. 

1. Correctly completed eligible entries will be selected by random drawing on date listed in 4b.

1. The Station is not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry.

1. Enter online as often as you like. No automated or robotic entries allowed.

1. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS

1. The contest is open to all WIAT CBS 42 viewers who are 19 years of age or older and who legally reside in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Anniston television DMA.  Employees of WIAT CBS 42 (the “Station”), its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other television stations in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Anniston DMA and the members of their immediate families and/or households are ineligible to participate or win.  Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  Void where prohibited.

1. Only one winner per household is permitted in any Station contest.

1. Winner(s) agrees to sign a station contest release form.

1. PRIZE

1. Weekly Prize: Ten (10) weekly prizes will be awarded. Winner will appear in a sports segment that will air on WIAT CBS 42 during “CBS42 News at 10”. Each weekly winner is responsible for arriving at Dreamland BBQ, 1427 14th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL  35205 at 2:45pm the following Monday for videotaping of the segment. Weekly prize also includes a CBS 42 Football Jersey and up to $50 in food/beverage at the Dreamland Bar-B-Que location which must be redeemed at the time of videotaping. Approximate retail value of prize: $80. If winner does not appear for videotaping, prize is forfeited.

1. Grand Prize: One (1) grand prize will be awarded.  Grand Prize is $100 gift card good at any location of Dreamland Bar-B-Que, Two (2) Tickets to the Alabama-Auburn football game in Auburn, AL on November 30, 2013, and appear in the live “Armchair Quarterback” segment from Auburn, AL during the “Alabama vs. Auburn Pre-Game” special to air on WIAT on November, 30, 2013. Winner is responsible for all travel to Auburn, AL. Approximate retail value of Grand Prize: $290.

1. Weekly food prize will be awarded at Dreamland Bar-B-Que at the time of videotaping.  Gift card and tickets will be awarded at location and time of Alabama vs. Auburn Pre-Game Special in Auburn AL November 30, 2013. The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed by 12pm on November 28, 2013.  In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. The Station is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.

1. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Other restrictions may apply.  

1. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

1. Decisions of the Station management with respect to the contest are final.

1. Weekly winners will be selected by a 3-person selection committee of WIAT employees.  Starting September 4, 2013, the selection committee will select one (1) winner every Wednesday at approximately 3pm, from all eligible submissions since the beginning of the contest, based on the answers from the entry on why the entrant should be the “Dreamland Armchair Quarterback.” Entries will be judged on the following criteria: 40% creativity, 30% originality, and 30% entertainment value. Winner will be notified by phone by 5:00pm on the day of the drawing.  Winner will need to attend the 3:00pm recording of the Armchair Quarterback segment at Dreamland Bar-B-Que. If winner is unable to participate in the recording of the segment, the prize is forfeited an alternate winner will be selected by the selection committee. (Winners’ name and/or likeness will be broadcast on CBS 42 News on WIAT-TV CBS 42 pursuant to the license granted herein.)  Weekly winners will qualify for the grand prize.

1. Grand Prize:  All weekly winners will be entered into a cbs42.com online voting poll.  Beginning November 12, 2013 at 9:00am and ending November 26, 2013 at 5:00pm, website visitors can vote on their favorite Armchair Quarterback. On or about 5pm on November 26, 2013, the Grand prize winner will be selected by random drawing from four (4) weekly winners selected by a 3-person selection committee of WIAT employees and the entrant who received the most votes from online voters at the end of the voting period. Weekly winners will be judged on the following criteria: 40% creativity, 30% originality, and 30% entertainment value.

1. Odds of winning depend on total number of correctly completed contest entries.

1. Weekly winners must be present at the videotaping and the Grand Prize winner must be present at time of broadcast in order to win prizes.

1. Winners must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within two (2) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by selection committee.  If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within the required time period, is unavailable for the recording of the Armchair Quarterback segment or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize.

1. In the event that a winner is ineligible, or forfeits a prize, an alternate winner will be selected by the selection committee from all eligible entrants. 

1. CONDITIONS

1. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners.  Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.

1. By participating in the contest, participants agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.  The Website’s Terms of Service apply to any online portions of this Contest.

1. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, the Station in its sole discretion may require contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.

1. The Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement.  If due to circumstances beyond the control of the Station, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, the Station reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

1. Failure to comply with the contest rules or the Station’s website Terms of Service may result in an entrant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station.

1. The Station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
