1. HOW TO ENTER
   1. The 2014 Armchair Quarterback contest will begin on August 29, 2014 at 12:01am and end on November 25, 2014 at 5:00pm.
   2. To participate in the contest, you may enter via the following method(s): Log on to WIAT.com and follow the Armchair Quarterback link. Register and completely fill out the online entry form and complete the essay section of the form. The essay questions are: “Are you the ultimate armchair quarterback? Tell us why and you could be featured on our weekly fall football segments with the CBS42 Sports Team!” Essays MUST NOT include any intellectual property for which the entrant does not have permission.  Essays MUST NOT include any nudity or other inappropriate content in the sole discretion of the station.  Essay submissions MUST NOT contain any specific personal contact information about yourself or others. Failure to obey these requirements may lead to disqualification in Station’s sole discretion. You may enter by 10am each Wednesday to be added to the pool of eligible entrants.
   3. Correctly completed eligible entries will be selected by random drawing on dates listed in 4b.
   4. The Station is not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry.
   5. Enter online as often as you like. No automated or robotic entries allowed.

       

2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
   1. The contest is open to all WIAT viewers who are 19 years of age or older and who legally reside in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Anniston television DMA.  Employees of WIAT (the “Station”), its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other television stations in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Anniston DMA and the members of their immediate families and/or households are ineligible to participate or win.  Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  Void where prohibited.
   2. Only one winner per household is permitted in any Station contest.
   3. Winner(s) agrees to sign a station contest release form.

       

3. PRIZE
   1. Weekly Prize: Ten (10) weekly prizes will be awarded. Each winner will appear in a sports segment that will air on WIAT during “WIAT 42 News at 10”. Each weekly winner is responsible for arriving at WIAT, 2075 Golden Crest Drive, Birmingham, AL  35209 at 2:15pm the following Monday for videotaping of the segment. Weekly Prizes for each week are a voucher for either a Signature Design by Ashley or a Lane Furniture Armchair $500.00 value, a Dreamland BBQ $25 gift card, One (1) Coke 12 pack $7.50 value, and One (1) Coke Zero 12 pack $7.50 value. Approximate retail value of prize: $540. If winner does not appear for videotaping, prize is forfeited. Taxes, delivery, and shipping not included.
   2. Grand Prize is a 50" LG HDTV $799.00 value, One (1) Coke 12 pack $7.50 value, One (1) Coke Zero 12 pack $7.50 value, One (1) Corn Hole Bean Bag Toss game $385.00 value, Two (2) Tickets to the Auburn-Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa, AL on November 29, 2014 $150.00 value, and appear in the live “Armchair Quarterback” segment from Tuscaloosa, AL during the “Auburn vs. Alabama Pre-Game” special to air on WIAT on November, 29, 2014,. Winner is responsible for all travel to Tuscaloosa, AL. Approximate retail value of Grand Prize: $1349. Taxes, delivery, and shipping not included.
   3. Weekly prizes will be awarded at WIAT 42 at the time of videotaping. Grand Prize Tickets will be awarded at location and time of Auburn vs. Alabama Pre-Game Special in Tuscaloosa, AL November 29, 2014. TV Prize will be coordinated between winner and Royal Furniture 122 South Main Street, Memphis, TN  38103
   4. The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed by 12pm on November 29, 2014. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. The Station is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
   5. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that the Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Other restrictions may apply.

       

4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
   1. Decisions of the Station management with respect to the contest are final.
   2. Weekly winners will be selected by a 3-person selection committee of WIAT employees.  Starting September 3, 2014, the selection committee will select one (1) winner every Wednesday at approximately 3pm, from all eligible submissions since the beginning of the contest, based on the answers from the entry on why the entrant should be the “Armchair Quarterback.” Entries will be judged on the following criteria: 40% creativity, 30% originality, and 30% entertainment value. Winner will be notified by phone by 5:00pm on the day of the drawing.  Winner will need to attend the 2:30pm recording of the Armchair Quarterback segment at WIAT. If winner is unable to participate in the recording of the segment, the prize is forfeited an alternate winner will be selected by the selection committee. (Winners’ name and/or likeness will be broadcast on WIAT 42 News on WIAT-TV pursuant to the license granted herein.)  Weekly winners will qualify for the grand prize.
   3. Grand Prize:  All weekly winners will be entered into a WIAT.com online voting poll.  Beginning November 11, 2014 at 9:00am and ending November 25, 2014 at 5:00pm, website visitors can vote on their favorite Armchair Quarterback. On or about 5pm on November 25, 2014, the Grand prize winner will be selected by random drawing from four (4) weekly winners selected by a 3-person selection committee of WIAT employees and the entrant who received the most votes from online voters at the end of the voting period. Total: 5 finalists. Weekly winners will be judged on the following criteria: 40% creativity, 30% originality, and 30% entertainment value.
   4. Odds of winning depend on total number of correctly completed contest entries.
   5. Weekly winners must be present at the videotaping and the Grand Prize winner must be present at time of broadcast in order to win prizes.
   6. Winners must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within two (2) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by selection committee.  If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within the required time period, is unavailable for the recording of the Armchair Quarterback segment or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize.
   7. In the event that a winner is ineligible, or forfeits a prize, an alternate winner will be selected by the selection committee from all eligible entrants. 

       

5. CONDITIONS
   1. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners.  Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.
   2. By participating in the contest, participants agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.  The Website’s Terms of Service apply to any online portions of this Contest.
   3. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, the Station in its sole discretion may require contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
   4. The Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement.  If due to circumstances beyond the control of the Station, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, the Station reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.
   5. Failure to comply with the contest rules or the Station’s website Terms of Service may result in an entrant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station.
   6. The Station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
